Winter months Jan -April. Best island to see them from is Maui, or Lanai, But can be seen near any island. Will most likely need to do a whale watching boat tour, but these are fun and have guaranteed sightings. I took this trip and it was amazing!

NOW
February is prime time for whale watching in Hawaii. Although in my personal experience, we have spotted whales as late as April 24.
Check out the Pacific Whale Foundation website for great information. They also offer the best whale watching tours on Maui.
Have fun!

December through April is considered “Whale Watching Season” and there are whale watching cruises available on all the major islands. Maui and the Big Island have quite a few.

The best time of year is from January through the end of March or even until early April.
I’ve been off of Muaui in Early January and have seen the whales already.
